The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Umar has said on Thursday in Abuja that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) would not stop encouraging hard work and excellence by rewarding those that deserve it.
Umar made this statement while decorating two senior officers who were promoted from the rank of Group Captain to Air Commodore.
“The promotion of the two officers to the rank of Air Commodore is well deserved and I want to assure you that NAF will continue to reward hard work and excellence.”
The two officers, Commodore Emmanuel Ihebinandu and Commodore Haslim Kolo, were said to be away on national duty when NAF Council, headed by the President deemed it fit to elevate them and unfortunately they could not be decorated then.
“I believe your promotion is well deserved as you were away when you were promoted, however, it is better late than never. I want to admonish you to continue to work hard for the NAFÂ and the nation,” Umar said.
Ihebinandu thanked the federal government and the NAF for the promotion to the rank of Air Commodore; adding that the only way to show their appreciation for such ‘wonderful gesture’ is to keep rekindling the pledge they made while enlisting into the NAF.
He said that they would continue to serve the nation and the air force with unflinching loyalty and utmost dedication to duty.
Commodore Ihebinandu, fine officer and gentleman! Congratulations the great NGWONGWO!…. We have since ‘washed’ it…..
