Austrian Awards to Members of 5th Battalion, the Queen’s Own Nigerian Regiment (ONUC)
The “Sign of Honor”, an Austrian decoration in recognition of eminent service for the Austrian Republic, was awarded to ten members of the 5th Battalion of the Queen’s Own Nigerian Regiment at Leopoldville this morning, by the Austrian Consul in Leopoldville.
Company Sergeant Major A. Elijah (2nd from right), is, seen here shortly after he had received the award.

Welby-Everard, C.B., O.B.E., General Officer Commanding the Royal Nigerian Army, is seen here shortly after disembarking from the aircraft which brought him to Leopoldville at noon today. He will spend three days visiting units of the 2nd Queen’s Own Nigerian Army which are serving with the U.N. Force in the Congo (ONUC).
