Barely 24 hours after the assassination of the General Manager of Borno Housing Corporation (BOHC) in Maiduguri, some suspected members of the Boko Haram sect, on Friday, attacked two houses in Abaganaram ward, slicing the throats of two residents. The attack occured at about a kilometre, East of the corporation’s office complex, where the slain general manager, Isa Madu Ngaram, was killed by suspected gunmen on Wednesday.

A resident of the area, who craved anonymity, alleged that “three suspected gunmen walked into the area and demanded to know the whereabouts of the residents of the houses. “But none of us responded to the suspects’ enquiries, as all of us rushed into our houses because of the 7 pm to 6 am curfew. Two hours later, we heard wailing, without the sounds of gunshots and firing experienced during previous exchanges of gunfire between the Joint Task Force (JTF) and the terrorists in Abaganaram and Budum wards,” he said.

Speaking on the incident, the spokesman of JTF, Lt. Col Sagir Musa, said that he received reports of the attack in the affected ward on Friday morning. He, however, said that no arrests had been made by either the Task Force or police, adding that the attacked houses were among the black spots identified by JTF in the Maiduguri metropolis.

Confirming the killings, the Borno State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Gideon Jibrin also said the killings occurred barely a few minutes to 7pm.
