The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Azubuke Ihejirika, on Friday applauded the Federal Government’s support aimed at transforming the army toward addressing current national and global challenges. Ihejirika made the commendation at the passing out parade of the 67th Regular Recruits Intake at the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria, Kaduna State.
Ihejirika, who was represented by Maj.-Gen. Garba Ayodele Wahab, General Officer, Commanding 1 Div., Nigerian Army, Kaduna, said : “Our political
masters have been very supportive. “Mr President and members of the National Assembly have been working tirelessly to improve our lots, especially in the areas of equipping, training, general
administration and welfare. “It behoves on us to remain disciplined and unreservedly loyal to constituted authorities, ” he said.
Ihejirika gave an assurance that, within the available resources, the army would continue to train, equip and cater to the welfare of soldiers to meet the required standard.The COAS urged the graduating soldiers to always project the image of the profession through discipline, dedication, commitment and determination to serve the fatherland. “Always remember, the military
profession is all about supreme sacrifice, honour, discipline, loyalty, perseverance and valour.
“I am aware of the rigours and pains you have undergone during the training. Remember, the world has no place for the weak and fickle minded, ” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that close to 3, 623 soldiers were graduated from the Depot for onward military training at Jaji near Kaduna.
