Bomb experts yesterday were busy with detonation of explosives recovered from Kabuga, a few kilometres from the main campus of the Bayero University, Kano. The anti-bomb squad had a day earlier detonated assorted local explosives planted by unknown persons inside the Federal College of Education, FCE.

The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Idris, confirmed yesterday’s exercise in an interview with our correspondent. Idris said his men detonated four high calibre explosives. According to him, the police decided to detonate the bombs where they were found to avoid accident as recorded in some states.

He said: “We decided not to evacuate them to the traditional spot where live bombs are defused to avoid an accident.” Idris disclosed that no one was hurt neither was any damage done to structures in the vicinity from the impact of the explosions
