LEADER of the Bakassi militant group, Lapto Marine Force, Mr. Lapto , that kidnapped the rescued 28 oil workers of Sinopec oil servicing company has been declared wanted.
The Commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF) codenamed Operation Pulo Shield, Major General Johnson Ochoga, on Sunday said that the militant leader was on the run and “he is declared wanted. He is not a friend to anyone if he can take 28 Nigerians captive and this is not the first of its kind.” He added that Lapto was declared wanted given the violent and criminal activities of the gang
The JTF rescued the 28 oil workers at the Ikang water ways in Bakassi Local Council of Cross River State. One of the workers who allegedly ran away out of fear when the JTF struck the camp where they had held them hostage has been rescued in the neighbouring Akpabuyo Local Council.
