Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 60,000 regular and non-regular personnel across the country to reduce crime and criminal tendencies during and after Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Commandant General of the Corps, Ade
Abolurin, said the move is to ensure
water tight security and a hitch-free
celebration, devoid of any attack or threat to lives of individuals or group of persons. He noted that the period is significant to all Christians across the globe as a time to remember and celebrate the birth of the savior Jesus Christ.
While launching the yuletide operation
code named “Operation Peace and
Security” at the Corps National Headquarters, on Monday in Abuja,
Abolurin assures that adequate security
will be provided to prevent loss of lives and property this season hence Nigerians should stop living in fear of the unknown.
In his operational orders to the Zonal and State Commandants, the NSCDC top boss emphasizes the need for zero tolerance for criminality, tasking them to be extra vigilant and unassuming as crime has taken new dimension and that officers and men be effectively deployed to safeguard Nigerians in every nook and cranny of the country.
