The NIMASA-Global West Vessel Specialists joint venture for the provisioning of maritime security assets yielded 20 armoured patrol boats in 2012. That, in addition to the expected delivery of three Offshore Support Vessels which are intended to be tasked with the responsibility of monitoring offshore oil loading platforms and terminals.
Pictured above is what is perhaps the only known photograph of any of the ARESA patrol boats delivered to the NIMASA Maritime Guard Command last year.

An aside i flew in from lagos on the 30th and i noticed a big hanger being constructed at the NAF base in Benin airport and the shape looks rather unsual i mean not like the warehouse looking hangers i have seen in other airports around the country.
Hmn, surprised to hear that.
The workplan for 2012 only provided for hangars and ground equipment at Sokoto, Maiduguri, Makurdi and Minna. Could it be a hangar for the Alenia ATR 42-500 MP Surveyor and Diamond DA42 MPP recce aircraft operated by the NAF’s 81 Air Maritime Group?
Hmm……..something is going on in the air force
remember dat they are probably going to transfer some rotary wing assets to army air wing.
E bi like say dey wan surprise us
Remember the CNAF alluded to the fact that there are 9 more HELIOS coming this to me seems to be the logical reason ………….. unless Nigeria is getting ready to acquire either more ATR42-500 MPs or newer airplanes.
