The Joint military Task Force in Borno
state, Northern Nigeria, have arrested 10 suspected terrorists in connection with an explosion that occurred on Wednesday at Shehuri ward of Maiduguri metropolis. In a statement, spokesman for the Task Force,Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa said that no life was lost in the attack. Musa said that the suspects were interrogated.
“There was an IED explosion at about
12.30 pm today Wednesday, 23 January,
2013 in Shehuri ward, Maiduguri
metropolis. The JTF rushed to the scene,
cordoned and searched the area,arrested ten suspects.” Lieutenant Colonel Musa confirmed. The JTF spokesman said earlier in the day,some suspected gunmen killed three people at Jiddari – Pulo, Maiduguri metropolis.
He said that the JTF operatives immediately cordoned the area,arrested
three suspects and recovered one assault rifle with ten rounds of ammunition. Lieutenant Colonel Musa said two gunmen lost their lives and a soldier was wounded in an exchange of fire during the operation.
He said normalcy had been restored to
the two areas, as people are going about their normal activities.
