Uganda: UPDF to Recruit Over 3,000

The army is to recruit over 3,000 in a countrywide exercise that kicks off tomorrow. The defense spokesperson, Lt. Col. Felix Kulayigye said a total of 3,000 successful candidates will be trained as recruits while 300 will go for a cadet officers training.
The two-week long exercise that had initially been slated to start on July 27 was postponed Wednesday. Kulayigye added that the deadline for the completion of the exercise was also extended to August 16.
According to a new program, districts where recruitment starts Wednesday are; Wakiso, Lyantonde, Kabale, Moroto, Arua, Koboko, Yumbe, Kitgum, Masindi and Kiryandongo. Others are Luwero, Kisoro, Napak, Lamwo, Nakasongola and Nakaseke.
Kulayigye warned interested candidates against presenting fabricated academic documents. Both qualified male and female candidates should be aged between 18-25 years.
Candidates to be recruited for cadet officers training should possess a minimum qualification of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education or its equivalent while recruits must have Uganda Certificate of Education.
