EQUATORIAL GUINEA NAVY FLAGSHIP, THE BULGARIAN-BUILT 1,360 TON OPV-88, ‘BATA’

Well, it turns out that the said 2,500 ton frigate which was inducted last year, is actually a 1,360 ton OPV. Kudos to the neighbours regardless.

Do note however, that a heavily armed 2,350 ton Barroso class light frigate and a pair of Israeli-built corvettes possibly advanced Sa’ar types are conclusively netted and coming to Equato-Guinea while they have entered into negotiations for three well-armed, ex-Korean Pohang corvettes.

This is impressive for such a small country. Nigeria honestly needs to look in the mirror. There are three things that will need to happen for oil theft, bunkering and kidnapping to go down.
    1. procurement of opvs and frigates
    2. ENHANCED RADAR to over 200 nautical miles
    3. Rapid and just prosecution of crimminality associated with crime on the high seas.

I know this has nothing to do with the thread, but i clicked on the link you provided and was impressed with our use of the jaguar for recon.since we are decommissioning them we could replace them 1 for 1 with the su-34.

  3. doziex says:

Every time I look at the rapid progress of equatorial guinea’s navy, shame dey catch me.

My question is, how can I transpose this shame, to our political leadership, our military, and nigerians in general ?

  4. Spirit says:

    Oga Doziex,

They lost the gene responsible ‘shame’ during their evolution to Homo Sapien.
