It was one said of a US naval unit of 75 men who used more ammo than the entire US Marine Corp in the space of one year. Today, called NSWDG( or DEVGRU formally seal team 6), they are some of the best fighting men in the world because they anticipate all scenarios and train for it and so with their greatest rival 1st SOD-D ava delta force. They have all the tools the need and are as secretive as ever. If we keep at it, one day our SBS will get they and mingle with the big boys.
I think you are exagerating the qualities of the seal team 6.
I would bet on the russian spetznas any day.
And I would also bet on our SBS as well.
I also do not think the little seal team six used as much ammo as the 80000US marines, it is not humanly possible.

The selectivity of a regular soldier in the Nigerian army is just as hard or even harder than that of a seal team 6. While a regular US soldier is generally just a kid who signed in for 5 years in other to afford university.
Have you been through any? I doubt out army basic training is harder than buds, I have seen sbs training,and it basically the same thing as buds…..and that is harder than basic training
🙂 SBS always look like the chaps you see staging commando raids in the war movies. They always look the part. Whether it is the beautiful sea around them or the contrasting black uniforms, I would not know. But they always look good in photos – whether boarding a vessel or travelling in a RHIB.

I look forward to the day we have full naval excercises/wargames with the big Maritime Powers like the US, China, Britain, Germany or France.
We should also have regular joint naval excerises with the South African Navy – with an emphasis on ASW. Closer to home we should also have naval excerices (at least 4 times a year – funds permitting) with the other navies in the Gulf of Guinea ( Ghana, Senegal, Cameroun, Equitorial Guinea and Benin Republic).

I know people that went direct from NDA to SBS for selection and still washed out…….
I know about some people who couldn’t become nigerian soldiers, but had no difficulties joigning the US marines.

Igbi, i dont think that the basic training of the NA meets up with the physical requirements of the Navy Seal’s Bud or SBS training…Lets examine it logically, where do the NA pick their recruits from for the basic course…civilians right? Where do the US navy seal/Nigerian SBS pick their recruits from?…That alone proves to you that training to be a seal/SBS operator is far more difficult than trining to be a regular soldier….even the names(regular training) prove it.
I never said the Nigerian Army basic training was more difficult than the Nigerian SBS training. I only mean that first of all, our army is more selectif than the US navy seal (yes their special forces are not as selectif as our regular forces), but that is bcause they have one million personnel and that to keep on with that number, there is almost no selectivity at the regular US armed personnel. And that their special forces are actually the ones who went through the selectivity our regular soldiers go through.
So the training our regular soldiers can survive is just at the same level as the one their special forces can survive. I don’t think a US marine will last one week in Nigerian army basic training. The thing in which they beat us is in eaquipement: they are the best in the world for that, and it is that alone that gives them their position of today.
