  1. Number one says:

@Beegeagle,what about the opv’s from pipavav are we still going through with the deal.

  2. beegeagle says:

No contract on those have been signed. Pipavav Shipyards merely spoke on the strength of a MoU but the firm contract has been signed.

Something similar happened with the P18N Chinese stealth OPVs but eventually, a contract was signed in April 2012 and construction work commenced in October 2012.

Let’s see how this plays out. The acquisition of two OPVs was detailed in the acquisition plans of the NN in each of 2011 and 2012. The Chinese OPVs fell under the 2011 lot and were acquired after the plan for Portuguese-built OPVs fell through.

The 2012 lot, albeit on the strength of now carried over funds, shall also be fulfilled somehow even if they are similarly unable to reach agreement on the Pipavav OPVs.

  3. Tope says:

Then what of this year 2013 lot? Was any OPV slated? Maybe a quest to buy a brand new OPV is in the works the reason for the OPV Conference hosted by Nigeria.
