Operated by the Nigerian Air Force, the ATR 42 Surveyor MP is Alenia Aermacchi’s response to evolving maritime surveillance needs. The ATR 42 Surveyor builds on more than 10 million hours of in-service experience to provide high reliability, very low operational and maintenance costs and the capability to operate in tough environments, including unprepared strips, short and narrow fields, and extreme weather conditions.

The ATR 42 MP is fitted with the latest Advanced Tactical Observation System (ATOS), and an open and modular integrated mission management system,in order to fulfill its primary roles of vessel search, identification and surveillance, maritime and coastal surveillance, search and rescue (SAR), and pollution detection.

Thanks to an extremely flexible and modular design, the aircraft can be quickly and easily reconfigured to fulfill secondary roles such as troop/paratroop transport, medical evacuation,passenger/VIP transport, cargo transport.

Dunno if anyone saw the Vice President on NTA News last night. He was at the hitherto decrepit Police College in Lagos to inspect the progress of work.

Since January 2013 when the President instructed NA Engineers to move into the place and turn it around, the work which has been done and the physical turnaround achieved has to be seen to be believed.

45 large buildings practically rebuilt and unrecongisable relative to the glut of old colonial and dilapidating buildings which sufficed before now. It has to be seen to be believed.

The NA Engineers, for completion rate and rapidity of work, have greatly improved their profile since 2009.

    https://beegeagle.wordpress.com/2012/11/30/nigerian-army-engineers-notable-achievements-and-undertakings-2009-till-date/

Since we posted the foregoing article, NA Engrs have turned around the Police College in Lagos, constructed 180 units of barracks accomodation for troops, commenced the construction of a new barracks at Gwagwalada in Abuja and have surveyed two sites at Ibodi-Ilesha and Doma, preparatory to the construction of new battalion barracks.

It would be recalled that in 2010, the NA Engrs constructed the 660-unit Shehu Yar’Adua barracks in just ten months. They also rehabilitated the barracks of 14 Brigade garrison which had become dilapidated after it had been abandoned for 19 years after the artillery regiment which previously occupied it, moved out.

Last October, the 176 Battalion barracks at Kuje in Abuja was also handed over upon completion by the NA Engineers.

  5. Yagazie says:

So did I – you have to see the transformation of the Police College to believe it! Damn- these guys are good!!!

The NA Engineers should be given the contract to build/renovate all Army/Navy/Airforce and Police barrracks in the Country.

The revenue saved from awarding the contracts to the NA Engineers can then be ploughed back into the purchase of millitary equipment/hardware.
