Technology is the solid foundation for all forms of national development.Like the Asian Tigers, this humble begining will reach a crescendo when we begin to export products of our technological prowess to other countries. Nigeria,s defence complex could bring about the desired tecnological revolution if encouraged. Kudos NAEME. God bless the NA. Thanks Beegy for bringing this to public glare

Good start but the APC needs still needs much polishing and by the way did u guys notice the position of the gunner? is he going to be standing on the sit of the co-driver?

    • Obix says:

@ Oga Camo, nice observation. i guess the APC would come in variations. I believe that it’s either you have a gunner or a co-driver.

  6. Obix says:

What a wonderful way to start the day! Big thanks to Beag, my Oga at the top! :)God bless the NA !

  7. Henry says:

Beautiful!!!!!! Naija army engineers, beautiful people.

    Pictures for my album !!

  9. Henry says:

There is absolutely nothing humble about this beginning.

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE GREAT START!!!!

The only polishing that needs to be done is the tires, I think they are to small, and the front view of the Scout car. I don’t think this is an APC. I’d rather classify it as an armoured scout car, just like the french made panhad VBL.

The curvature of the vehicle, would allow deflect enemy rounds, without putting a lot of pressure on the ballistics protection.

The gunner, would stand behind the driver. The engineers could not have made such a silly mistake. The problem is the angle the photo was taken in doesn’t do justice to the car, hence the mistaken impression. We can see clearly in the first photo that the gun pot is behind the The gunner, would stand behind the driver. The engineers could not have made such a silly mistake. Demerits

The tires are the vehicles short point. Rounds from a local dane gun would do considerable damage to the to the tires. Change to bigger tires.

The front of the vehicle doesn’t seem adequately protected, if the engineer

Gentlemen, this is only the PROTOTYPE OF IGIRIGI Mk.I. So it shall only get better.

In FY 2013, the FG provided 350 million naira(US$2.2m) with which NAEME are expected to undertake more R & D and produce more stereotypes.

That is why I believe that the amendments which you have suggested shall all be taken on board. Yes, these are civvie tyres and I am sure that they know about run-flat tyres which are ideal for armoured vehicles.

Great start all the same. We are on the move.

  11. beegeagle says:

Oga Clem…my overly capable and combative Oga at the Top. I recognise your deft hands on the board.

@Oga Akin. Good afternoon, my brother. Tis feel good day again.

@Oga Obix. You wan handover to me? Who be who oga? I can’t wear your big shoes o🙂

  12. beegeagle says:

There is one scenario which we might be overlooking. Someone on this blog once said that the Igirigi APC has a remotely controlled weapon station. Something is missing at the top perhaps.

Oga beeg i think u are right u knw if u take a closer look at the pictures carefully u ll notice that the gunners port is directly on top of the co-driver’s seat.

  14. peccavi says:

Its good to see more pictures but I believe this is a proof of concept vehicle rather than a prototype.
The actual prototype will have lots of the issues above ironed out, as a light recce vehicle it will be useful depending on its road speed and off road capability.
However just looking at it it appears to be based on a 4WD/ SUV chassis, I don’t think it can be classified as an APC

    • igbi says:

It is an APC. And ofcourse that was just the beginning, there are going to be modifications, it is going to be perfected.

      • peccavi says:

Sorry, I didn’t realise you were an expert on fighting vehicles.
        Feel free to educate me

    • jimmy says:

GOOD to have you back OGA PECCAVI
We need your Analysis on the ” civilian JTSF” who have exposed a lot of tactics unbeknown to the NSF such as men dressing as women ( burk ah) and carrying weapons, TAKING THE FIGHT TO THE REAL STRONGHOLDS OF BOKO HARAM. Please do not GO AWOL. have we reached the tipping point and what should the f.g. do ? why will they not listen and build BETTER PRISONS?

      • peccavi says:

Oga no vex, having a busy period.
I was going to try and write a sitrep but I no get time.
Civilian JTF as I wrote earlier is a good and bad phenomenon. It takes Boko Haram further away from the people but it also opens another can of worms. Namely who are they? ho are the people they are targeting? If I join Civilian JTF is it not a great opportunity to get rid of business rivals, romantic rivals, debtors etc.
Again are they armed? Where do they get there weapon from? Recent report indicate they are fighting BH? Since when did a state sub contract security to civilians? Monopoly on violence is one of the tenets of a state.
Its a good move but if uncontrolled will be a nightmare. The Niger Delta militants started out as election thugs.2015 elections are almost on u, what do you think this armed civilians will be used for.
        It worries me sha

  15. gbash10 says:

That is a good work from the NA.However, the IGIRIGI should not be termed an APC.
This vehicle to my observation is just an up-armoured vehicle to protect soldiers from small arms fire.

  16. gbash10 says:

The NA research and development unit or Directorate should seek help from the Chinese or any friendly country on how to reverse engineered our Vickers Mk3 main battle tank and the BTR armoured personnel carrier,APC.

  17. anas says:

I don’t knw if am d onli observin this but this vehicle lacks a V shaped hull

  18. Number one says:

The Israelis are selling off tons of mil. equipment like the merkava mk1 and 2 will be wise 4 us to buy some on the cheap.
