Where did we buy this boat from ?
it has what on top? radio ?
    are those guns tavors?

    • asorockweb says:

The boat has “NNS Thunder” printed along the side. Is it safe to assume it is one of the boats that was attached to NNS Thunder, the former US Coast Guard ship?

      • beegeagle says:

In that case, it is one of the boats given to Nigeria by the USA last year. This one is attached to the NNS Thunder and that ship entered NN service in 2012 while two sets of boats – RHIBs and SWICK boats were given to the NN by the US State Department last year.

So a US-made RHIB it is. The RIBForce 7.8 Pro is British-made, for emphasis.

Where and how have you been, my Oga at the Top, Asorock ?

      • asorockweb says:

I have been good. Always admiring your work.

  2. beegeagle says:

Well, we have 11 metre US-made RHIBs(first photo) and 8 metre RIBForce 7.8 Pro(second photo) seen below

This red RHIB is unfamiliar. It is brand-new. I saw parts of it for the first time in the photos sent to me by Oga Spirit from his trip to NNS Beecroft during the Nigerian Navy Week at the end of May, 2013.

That is a navigational aid on top.

  3. Henry says:

Oga Beeg, that wasn’t the first time you so this RHIB. The photos the navy released of exercise obangame had this RHIB in contention in them.

@oga jimmy, I believe the device on top of the boat is a GPS marker. It would allow the parent ship see the location of the RHIB on her radar. I believe this photo was taken during exercise obangame 2013.

Off course man, they are all carrying tavors. We know the navy use ctavor-21’s, CX4 barretta and ak-47’s.

    CX4 barretta and ak-47’s = normal ratings
    CTavor-21 = SBS

*The nigerian army now use CTAR-21’s for her commando units. However the particular commando unit that use them is unknown.

Maybe I was not taking note then. Certainly, this was acquired after post-August 2012. And you would remember that EX OBANGAME 2013 took place Feb/March this year. When I visited the SBS Camp (they are the RHIB majors), these were certainly not in the inventory of the assets which were listed for me. Ditto the SWICK boats.
