Borno or Mali?
Borno and mali @ Oga peccavi
AFV deployed in both Borno and mali @ Oga peccavi. The photo is borno though.
You are right, Henry. This is northern Borno. However, it is not in doubt that the Panhard Sagaie has been in Mali since February at the latest. I recall having said at the time that I SAW on CCTV, a Sagaie AFV painted in ‘Nigerian camo’ (same scheme as you see on the AML 60 and Shilka SPAAG shown on this frontpage) on the tarmac of Bamako Airport shortly after in rolled off a C130H. I also saw an Otokar Cobra driving through the streets of Bamako.
The fact that Landcruiser gun-trucks which never showed up for the media event that was the departure to Mali, have since been photographed at Banamba, suggests that a lot of subsequent movements by airlift from Nigeria have taken place. Note also that DAPR have since told Nigerians that upgunned and uparmoured Pinzgauer All Terrain Vehicles and Stallion Surveillance Vehicles (configured by 51 Div NA Signals) have been deployed to Mali.
Are you sure about the uparmoured Pinzgauer …………….. The pic I saw,is like the regular pinzgauer,I have seen for years…..
COMPATRIOTS,you will all agree with me that the Panhard Sagaie AFV is a real armoured fighting vehicle the NA should clone, the way the south africans did.
If I rememember well, the gun it carries is the 105mm Howitzer.
Oga gbash10, the Panhard Sagaie carries the 90 mm gun. It’s our Vickers tanks that carries the 105mm gun.
The NA acquired 500 units of Pinzgauer 4×4 and 6×6 ATVs. On NTA News(18th January), the NA told Nigerians that 50 of those 500 units have been uparmoured and upgunned.
So it depends on what you saw and where. All I know is that they took 50 upgunned and uparmoured Pinzgauer ATVs to Mali. Oga Henry and others heard that too.
Oga beeg, you mis-quoted me.
What I said was, not only were the pinzgauer trucks up armoured and up-gunned, the 50 trucks shown on( NTA news) the day before troops departed for mali had “monitors” in them. The elated COAS made it crystal clear that those trucks, including the command and control 4WD’s were all refurbished and up-graded by the nigerian army engineering corps.
Wow, there are even two Panhard Sagaie AFVs here! Nice.
🙂 Even better…that means they even overshot my description. UPARMOURED, UPGUNNED, enhanced with surveillance gear and all of that, done by the ever-more impressive Nigerian Army Engineers.
Yeah Doziex, tis a 90mm-armed system. Ditto the EE9 Cascavel. I guess he was thinking about the South African Rooikat as he was typing. That is also a great-looking AFV..the Rooikat, that is.
