CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF ORDERS NIGERIAN SOLDIERS TO BE ALERT AT THEIR DUTY POSTS TO DETECT AND COUNTER TERRORISM

NEWS AGENCY OF NIGERIA
August 23, 2013

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, on Friday ordered soldiers to be alert at their duty post to detect and counter terrorism. Ihejirika gave the order at the closing ceremony of the second Commanding Officers’ Workshop for the Senior Course 36 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna.

He stressed the need for the officers to
imbibe attitudinal change, ensure
optimum utilisation of funds and good
management of men to tackle insecurity. He said that the military had developed new principles to guide its operations and introduced new training modules.

The COAS also urged troops to be more
alert at their duty posts to tackle the
security challenges in the country. “ This is necessary if emerging contemporary security challenges are to be dealt with and if our statutory duty of defending the territorial integrity of the country is to be fulfilled,’’ he said.

Ihejirika said that the theme of the
workshop, “Building the Capacity of Unit
Commanders to meet Contemporary
Challenges,” was aimed at improving
efficiency, knowledge and functional
administration of the participants.

Earlier, the Acting Commandant and
Director of Studies, AFCSC, Rear Adm.
Samuel Alade, urged the workshop
participants to ensure that they utilise
the practical aspect of the training.“This will enable you discharge your
duties effectively in securing the nation,’’he said.

Not to derail the thread but what do you know if anything about this:http://odili.net/news/source/2013/aug/26/624.html. Especially since we have not heard anything recently about the Calabar SHIP BUILDING.

Like we said elsewhere, the FG have awarded over US$12 billion worth of LNG carrier contracts and marine engineering contracts to Daewoo, Hyundai and Samsung over the last decade.

It is a crying shame that we have not been able to negotiate a minimum of three free OPVs into those deals. Not to mention three free units of ex-Korean Navy 37 metre PKM patrol craft from the Korean Government which have been gifting those to countries which have not done even US$100 million worth of business with Korean businesses. At a time when maritime security in Nigeria is such a topical issue on the global trading agenda?

Meeen, we need to wake up.

Oga beeg not to derail the thread too, i think the reporter that said smthng about an unmanned jet might not be totally wrong. i just saw a report on nta where the amebo was displayed with a [model?] jet and helicopter, but i dont knw if they were just toys or proto types

  3. Yagazie says:

Oga Camouflage- saw teh NTA news report as well. The model jet looked very much like the JF-17 Thunder aircraft which the NAF is rumoured to be intrested in purchasing from Pakistan. I could not however identify the make of the model helicopter.

  4. Tope says:
