The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh has condemned critics of President Goodluck Jonathan on the extension of state of emergency in some selected states in the North-East geo-political zone of the country. Badeh noted that the opposition of the extension could only deceive themselves
but not Nigerians.

He stated this in Ilorin while speaking with journalists after inspecting the Nigerian Air force Hanger at the Ilorin International Airport, said “I don’t know why people are complaining about the extension of state of emergency. It is for their own good and they should stop causing confusion. “It is also worthy of note that government has not taken away the state’s funding neither has it stopped them from doing anything in those areas. Rather the action has given us the latitude to arrest and detain criminals without taking them to court within 48 hours. It has also helped security operatives to go after the perpetrators of the evil acts since they have waged war against the armed forces.”

Air Marshal Badeh who was received by the Commander, 203 Medium Airlift Group, MAG, Air Commodore Shafi Kudu and other officers of the unit, further said; “I came to Ilorin for two things; Firstly, to see the extent of work done at the Airforce hanger and also see my officers undergoing training at the International Aviation College. And so far, am satisfied with the level of work done.

“As we all know, the Air force is fully involved in security operations in all the states of the federation. If you look back to the period of Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger-Delta where we participated actively, militancy was brought to an end mainly because the Air force responded with full force.

“Right now in Jos, Damaturu, Maiduguri and other states in the north-east region we are fully, fully involved. Just that we don’t announce the rate of our intervention but people concerned really know how we are working and they have kept on looking for escape routes.

I read a report last week that the equipments that were airlifted to Mali early this year with our troops are still in Mali after five months of our troops withdrawal!
What has gone wrong with the NAF’s C-130 Herculies and G222 transport planes? What is the MoD,Abuja doing about this embarrasing situation?why is the Defence HQs not voicing out this ugly situation to Mr President?

  2. jimmy says:

I am going to comment on this report later.

Last week the NAF had an exhibition at Abuja Air Force Base to show-case its innovation from the three NAF Commands.
Some thing captured my attention, a bomb design that looks like the US Air Force GBU-31/32 JDAM(Joint Direct Attack Munition) precision guided bomb series/Chinese FT-1/FT-2(satellite Aided Inertially Guided Bomb)/Russian KAB-500 bomb series that may come with 3 different conventional warheads:high explosive,thermobaric/fuel air explosives and deep penetration of concrete.
If only that bomb is a precision guided bomb, then the NAF would be transforming gradually to 21st century air force.

Oga please confirm this for us this if it is true would mean Nigeria would be the first. In africa to manufacture J.D.A.M.s.This is a game changer.

@gbash10. I think this link answers your question about equipment in Mali.

  5. gbash10 says:

@ Jimmy their are some materials and equipments that the NAF have manufactured locally, however,it seems most of them are classified. That particular event that was inspected by Mr Labaran Maku, minister of info and supervising minister of defence, was shown on NTA Network news briefly without any mention of the new innovations.XNUR44 any news about that bomb?

    • xnur44 says:

These are Kits fitted to gravity bombs for better trajectory delivery and can be retrofitted to earlier bomb stockpiles in NAF arsenal.

      • jimmy says:

Well this is news to me.You guys may recall the failure of the brits to supply with this gulf war 2 technology which we missed during the liberian and sierra leone wars.if you are indeed confirming that some of the bombs the naf are indeed no longer dummy guided but aversion of jdam or precision guided then we have a game changer on our hands. Please fellow cyber-generals,join me to thank the Pakistani Air Force, Aeronautical Engineers,Pilots and other technical staff for breathing life into the NAF’s F-7NI Airguards fighter jets! This guys are our true friends.
A NAF F-7NI flew into TAC,from the direction of Abuja with supersonic speed and at roof-top at about 3:30pm today.
We are really missing the formation flight of 3-6 ship aerobatic display and supersonic speed dog-fight training we used to watch in 2010.The NAF Top-Gun with the code name “MAD-DOG”,Sir,I salute YOU,you have really brought back the loss glory of the early 1980s when the NAF was at the peak of its operational readiness.
We have a crop of fly-boys that could be rated to be at par with the late NAF’s Top-Guns,Wg Cmdr Ben Ekele and Sqd Ldr A.A Ahura(MiG-21 pilots), they can defeat any western adversary if they are to be flying the Su-30MKI or Su-35S Flanker H+ and E+ fighters.

  7. gbash10 says:

Less i forget,@rka,thanks for that link.

  8. rka says:

    No problem @gbash10.

  9. gbash10 says:

Hehehe… It is as if somebody is following this blog at TAC War Room.Could it be that MAD-DOG is back at TAC?Hmmm… 2 F-7NI AirGuard fighters thrilled the residents of Makurdi today with some sort of dogfight/aerobatic display with children and adults clapping and screaming loudly with eyes to the skies! These guys performed the scissors air combat maneuvre.

2 cartoons of beer for you at the Officers Mess.Thank you guys for that show.

  10. gbash10 says:

God bless , guide and protect our fly-boys in their line of duty!

  11. freeegulf says:

air marshal gbash10 thanks o. u bring back the good ol days of Wing Commander Ben Ekele and others. they where on par with flyboys worldwide.

hopefully with the growth of NAF (new multi role fighters), they might institute new advance warfare school in kainji for squadron leaders, and also, activation of dedicated aerobatics display squadron
