Nigeria’s military on Monday in Abuja said that it killed 18 suspected terrorists while troops captured more weapons and aborted attacks in the outskirts of Bama and Ngurosoye in Borno.

Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, Director of
Defence Information, who is also the
Coordinator, Joint Information Centre
Counter Terrorism Campaign, said the
terrorists were killed during military
patrol at the weekend in the area. He said the troops dislodged some
terrorists who were about to attack some settlements and in the encounter, 16 burnt AK 47 rifles were found in the debris.

According to him, the troops also
destroyed five pick-up vehicles, 7 Golf cars and one Hilux truck. “A total of 75 villagers were screened and released in the course of cordon and search in the adjoining communities. “The purported bomb attack on a market in the vicinity, as widely reported in the media, is, however, yet to be verified,” he said.

Olukolade said that 16 AK47 rifles were also recovered in the course of cordon and search of communities, adding that mop-up operations were ongoing on Mandara mountains and Haraza hills.

He said that troops eventually overran
camps in the outskirts of Gombole, Mele, Kecheri, Dufrfada, Yuwe and others around Mandara mountains and Sambisa forests after stiff resistance. He said many terrorists died in the encounter while a soldier died and five others were wounded.

The defence spokesperson said that Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) had also stepped up patrols of the banks of Lake Chad as well as surrounding communities. He said that this was in addition to air
surveillance and patrols, designed “to
smoke out the remnants of the
terrorists”.

“The air raids on some camps sited on
Islands have also recorded successes in dislodging the terrorists located there. “Cordon and search for the terrorists have been focused on thorough screening of the villagers in surrounding communities.

“Many terrorists have been identified and subsequently apprehended by troops in the process.” He said that troops’ morale and fighting spirit had remained noticeably high while some of the terrorists’ camps falling to the forces in the ongoing campaign, had
been found deserted.

He said that food items earlier seized by terrorists from the villagers were often found stockpiled along with other items such as electronics and power generators. Olukolade said that the troops had swiftly razed terrorists’ camps.

Please sustain this tempo. Do not relent until BH becomes history,do not forget the bitter lessons we have learnt from this insurgency, stop believing that ‘some things’ CANNOT happen in Nigeria.

Remember Jacob’s law: ‘IF ANYTHING CAN GO WRONG, IT WILL’. And like the Boys Scout, ‘BE PREPARED’ for all eventualities.
    Be prepared for;

    1) Attacks on hospitals where soldiers are being treated.
    2) Be prepared for attacks on Maid Airport. Attempts to bring down an civilian aircraft
    3) Be prepared for dagger/sword attack like it happened in China recently
    4) Be prepared for attacks on trains and rail lines.
    5) Chemical weapon attack (Libya had some that could have been compromised during the uprising) on water works, oasis and wells.

BH is like a rabid dog now, they never expected this kind of all round vertical/horizontal attack. Now they are after soft targets of any kind, just to maintain their relevance. I do not envy the people of Yobe,Bornu and Adamama now because its obvious BH is just killing them just to make headlines and discredit the military/FG. My advise is that every community should be assisted to set up a kind of Community watch/Vigilante groups that will be strictly monitored and supervised by the Military/Police. Armed with radios, each community will be able to alert the nearby communities and vigilante groups that can quickly come to their aid should they come under attack. The military simply do not have the manpower to be present in thousands of villages and settlements across these three states. Hence, the police/Mopol have a huge responsibility to look for leaders in these communities who will be tested, vetted and ‘supported/assisted’ with tools to fight these bastards that are hell-bent on destroying our fatherland. The Civilian/JTF should be replicated in every community and hot spots, down to Benue state.

    May God bless Nigeria.

Two explosions in Nigeria’s troubled northeastern city of Maiduguri on Tuesday killed 11 people, including five policemen who were believed to have been targeted, police said.

Borno state police spokesman Gideon Jibrin told AFP that one vehicle exploded at 7:50 am (0650 GMT), killing three civilians, and that a bomb hurled at a police vehicle 10 minutes later killed five officers.

It was not immediately clear if the three others killed in the second attack were Boko Haram insurgents, he added.

well done to the military .this BH boys see to be looking for new targets to bite hard. with my oga listing the posible scenarios i thnk somebodi should take dis into notice and make urgent and adequate arrangments for any eventualities.come to think of it am beginning to suspect that this fulani herdsmen attacking kaduna could be fleeing BH boys in disgiuse.let the police rise now and handle this any way possible so as to give the army max concentration in dealing with terrorists.please can some one tell me who fired the rocket into a market in bama area(i think)
