The Nigerian military had recorded success in dislodging Boko Haram terrorists from their base in Tumbarka, Borno State, killing ten insurgents in the operation. The raid also led to the capture of several rifles, locally made guns and the destruction of 15 motorcycles used by the elements.
In another successful operation within the area, a roadblock mounted by the insurgents and used to extort money, food items, fuel and lubricants for their vehicles, was also dismantled but no arrests were made as the insurgents fled at the approach of the army.
The Director General,National Orientation Agency(NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri, who disclosed this at the National Security Briefing Centre on Sunday said that the counterinsurgency operations in the North East and parts of North Central has progressed effectively in favour of Nigerian soldiers who have gained the upper hand against the insurgents, who are now in disarray in every battlefield.
Omeri also appealed to Nigerians irrespective of their status and
background to refrain from making inflammatory statements capable of overcharging the tense situation in the country and allow the nation’s security personnel to do their work professionally.
