  1. I hope she gets a dedicated Helic

That’s what that cavernous hanger is for. At least, she should be capable of ASW with a properly armed helicopter( if the need arises), and ASuW by deleting the cranes for the RIB and life boat and employing 8 anti ship missile in its’ proper location ( amidship, aft of the mast). It is yet to be seen if the anti-aircraft missile can be mounted on the hanger cause their is no hanger in the original design and that area has to displace the weight of the helicopter and hanger. However, if I am correct, the missile are not auto-reload. If you have 8 in pod, that’s it 8. If it does not weigh much maybe it can still take a place there probably at a reduced number of 4.

I am going to be interested in hearing what the President’s speech is going to be about. This speech will offer glimpses of the way forward for the Navy.
One has to go all the way back to the Shagari to remember the time when we commissoned ships three or four @a time.
My hope and my prayer sincerely would be to say that in addition to these ships we are in the process of Buying a Z-9.

  4. Augustine says:

Z-9 Harbin is a light weight helo, it needs 2 units of the helicopter to do ASW role, one helo with dipping sonar to detect the sub, second helo with torpedo to kill the sub.

Looks like ships now tow sonars. That is what the Argentine P18Ns are going to do for them.

So if we get a towed sonar, an embarked Z-9 with torps can actually take out a spotted sub-surface threat

  5. Oje says:

Easily the most formidable and capable black African Navy today. Oje4j@yahoo.com

  6. Congratulations Nigerian Navy, it keeps setting the pace for other branches to follow. 4 New Warships means F series Fleet increasing
