This makes more sense than the previous scanty soft bodied hilux vans we used to see.
Hope they can show us troops moving with intimidating firepower in long convoys like we saw of the Tchadians. Such imagery has a way of swelling the populace with pride and gives them confidence that their troops are doing a good work and are capable of protecting them.
It will also make any BH elements think twice before rearing up their heads from their foxholes.

Iraqi BTR-4s
Notice that lack of missile launchers, just like in the Nigerian BTR-4s.
Also, the Iraqis are reporting technical difficulties with the vehicle. I hope we are having better luck.
Where is our Igirigi
Our Igirigi has always been a key part of the fight. We don’t yet have enough manpower to mass produce them in significant quantities.
However, we are manufacturing at a good pace.
Igirigi’s are mostly deployed in mubi, maiduguri and Abuja.

just out of curiosity i want to know weather the army uses satellite maps (the commercial ones that u can buy) for intel and for finding enemy troop movements.
Do we need those? Thought we have satellites up there. It was said ours was used to help the US during Hurricane Katrina .

wiki gives NigeriaSat-2 best resolution at 2.5m. but 100cm resolution will allow to make minute observation like no of troops etc
Nigeria currently has 2 earth monitoring Satellites in Operation: NigeriaSat-2 and NigeriaSat-X. NigeriaSat-1 which is a Security Satellite – Synthetic Aperture Radar is expected to be launched sometime this year..which should also bolster our capabilitiesi n this field.

Maps of areas of operation are currently provided by NASRDA’s earth observation satellite NigeriaSat-2. As regards areram movement, i know Nigeria’s DIA’s been very vocal recently as to the American’s lukewarm attitude to sharing actionable intelligence as at when due; Nevertheless, Nigeria CH-3 UAV’s and ATR surveillance flights creatively plug this very necessary need for now.

i looked up NASRDA in wiki. man i was impressed especially on its focus on space applications in agriculture, flood control management, meterology and rural communication.
NASRDA should keep its focus and invest in technologies to start building satellites in house without any outside help.
also it is disappointing for me to see that nigeria has no space collaboration with india.
i hope in future both countries can work together in this field.
india is currently working on reusable launch vehicle which will lower launch cost significantly.

India should be commended for its doggedness when it comes to space research and applications. India’s cheap but efficient mars mission was another proof of India’s ingenuity, costing less than the movie Gravity. Nigeria’s full fledged locally produced satellite should be ready before 2018, all things equal, while efforts are ongoing to develop launch capabilities. Nigeriasat-x developed by Nigerian engineers was launched in 2011, albeit with foreign technical assistance.
one of the quickest way to build up space capability is to establish inter organizational relation.with other space agencies
nigeria and china are already collaborating.i believe nigeria is looking to send a astronaut with chinese help.it will surely motivate the nation and help NASRDA to gain more funding and talent. plus it will instill pride in all nigerians.

also in the african region nigeria can claim leadership in this field since it already has a solid foundation on operating satellites.

Nigeria has more satellites in Space than the combined number 9 Egypt, South Africa, Angola and Algeria (only other African countries with a presence in Space) combined. How else will Nigeria’s unmanned Drones fire live missiles in real time if not vectored by real time imagery from NIGCOMSAT? I feel horrible we allow ourselves to be rubbished by hitherto insignificant countries while we have ready at our disposal the financial and technological resources and assets to build up the most formidable military machine the black race has ever seen. This is the downside of democracy. As a criteria to have sanctions lifted, debt cancelled and financial aid the West, after the return of democracy required Nigeria to cut down its military, reform it’s economy, privatise the power sector and invest more on education and infrastructure. The result is while we have indeed made great economic strides our security forces and infrastructure has been severely affected. We are seeing the consequence.
Oga Lachit, Nigerians in India n are killed extra judiciously with no respect or regard for human rights. Pakistan on the other hand have courted Nigeria, proposed a ballistic missile technology transfer, offered it’s JF-17 and even defied U.S directive to halt the sale of American made Pakistan attach Choppers and went ahead with the transfer, the Saudi government had to physically stop the cargo aircraft delivering the weapons and forced the plane to land. Now you know why? Yet there are 6 times more Indians in Nigeria than Pakistan. Nigeria and Pakistan share a common enemy hence the natural affinity when it comes to security.

Even though you are partially right @lachit, there were officials in that indian province insulting Nigerians and calling us names, i read about this, to the extent that one official told people there not to rent homes to Nigerians, it was a truly sad period, but also, this wasn’t something initiated from the central Government of India, but locals officials surely were involved, it was like Nigerians were being hunted down. But as i mentioned, this was a local incident and wont judge all of india for it.

My brother don’t take this personal, just saying a little correction. I mean no argument.
Iraq ordered 2,700 units of anti-tank guided missiles for their own BTR-4 IFV, they have already received about 1,000 units of the ATGM.
Also, Iraq purchased over 10,000 units of anti-tank guided missiles between years 2013 and 2014…..you still want to compare Nigerian army procurement style? For us in Naija army, ATGM is like a curse…..we run away from buying it as if it is Ebola.

I posted the picture because the Iraqi BTR-4s look just like the BTR-4s that we got and also because they are reporting technical difficulties with the vehicle.

Go on SIPRI arms transfer database and educate yourself there, Iraq ordered 2,700 ATGMs for their BTR-4 and they received 900 ATGMs already.

Nigerian satellites actually relayed imagery of the mission area during the deployment of Nigerian troops to Mali in 2013.
Again, after purported outrages at Baga in April 2013, the Nigerian satellites also provided satellite imagery to back up claims that the town was not flattened.
Nigeria have the capacity to relay our own satellite feed to the guys in the Northeast, even if that relay does not provide live footage.

There is a very big difference between stating ones opinion and actually doing reasearch and reasoning to arrive at a conclusion. Everybody has an opinion, the harder thing is to do some actual work rather than stating one’s opinion. When you submit a paper work to your maths teacher, even if you tell him that 2+2=5 and that that is your opinion, he will still mark you 0. Fact and opinion are not the same. here we prefer dealing with facts rather than opinion.
