    Amphibious capability, the basics of a QRF… Especially since most of the world is covered by water. This is good stuff. From what I understand Nigeria deployed battalion sized forces amphibiously in S.Leone and Liberia. Can we use this in shallow water (less than 5 feet?)

      We used old rusty LSTs in Liberia and Sierra Leone. I am not aware that there were beach landings on small landing gun boats a larger Normandy. Nigeria landed troops inside a commercial port after shelling the place like shege from Naval guns.
      The airforce Alpha jets also laid out suppressing air strikes on enemy positions.
      I believe that was how we did it.

        thinking about it, its easier to land troops on a beach than at a defended port. yes it was done with our old LST. however, the most important thing is that the objective was achieved with minimum own casualty if you doubt ask our western friends if they wont have preferred a port on WWII d-day. Amphibious capability does not aways mean it must be a beach landing

      These operate in depths of 0.9-1m. That is why they are flat-bottom…less draught. The thrust-vectoring Manta ASD Littoral Interceptors can also handle such shallow depths.

    Now is the time to force this Singapore Kinetics International, a commercially savvy defence operator integrating products from third world sources into good systems and meeting delivery schedules to do something locally. We should demand no less than a small ship yard as a joint venture to turn out Manta class boats and also maintenance.

    “We’ve just received the results of a tender in Bangladesh in which Slovakia’s Bozena won as well. We’re analyzing the details of the tenders as we speak,” the company’s general director Bohuslav Lipovsky said Monday.

    Apart from regular supplies of mine clearing equipment, the firm specializes in consulting and training soldiers. “Our expert team recently returned from the Golan Heights (Israel), where we provide a tailor-made mine clearing system. Apart from project work, we also provide consultations and training,” said Lipovsky.

    Yeah Roscoe, those boats can handle shallow depths of 0.9-1m. That is about 3 feet.
