These 20mm DENEL cannons are taking over – mounted on 24m and 32m OCEA craft, NNS ANDONI, NNS ZARIA, NNS BURUTU and on six of these 36m craft

      oga BEEGS
Biko does that mean Naija is doing biz with DENEL as in S’AFRICA? i know it sounds silly but I am surprised because the southies have been trying to penetrate the NAIJA MARKET FOR A WHILE

  2. Henry says:

Anybody has any news on NNS Andoni II? Oga beeg any info at all?

  3. Augustine says:

How much does it cost to build an NNS Andoni? Anyone with info?

  4. Augustine says:

Oga Beegs, Nigeria should not be importing 20mm cannon 55 years after independence and after many major wars from Biafra to Liberia to Sierra Leone to Niger Delta to North East.

We should have seen the limit of Browning 12.7mm by now. DICON should get licenses and produce locally, 14,5mm ZPU Russian or Chinese, dual feed API and HE ammo 20 mm autocannon likely French Nexter/Giat, and 30 mm autocannon Russian or Chinese.

These are basic things that make domestic defense industry support a long war even when foreign suppliers are doing shakara.

  5. beegeagle says:

You are right. I was pointing out something rather than expressing support for our proclivity towards importing everything, including eggs and toothpicks.

Be that as it may, DICON remain grossly underfunded. At the end of the day, until more of us on here have a chance to make their inputs by playing roles where it matters, we can do scarcely more than hope that they drive the changes which make sense

    • ozed says:

      Exactly sir!!

The truth is success does not come from wishing hard enough. it comes from good planning and implementation. FG has said it wants to begin looking inwards, but i would not be surprised to find out that the budget voted for DICON and other tech arms of the military has remained static or probably declined.

we must begin to put our money where our mouth is as a Country.

      • Are James says:

There are other things in engineering infrastructure not directly related to defense but providing inputs to defence industry that should be in place. We have just not grown in that area by design.

  6. Njoku OUJ says:

We’re not there yet, only hope we could get there. The nation wasted a lot of manpower and tech knowhow after the civil war. We just didn’t know what to do with Biafran scientists (at least then they showed they could improvised).Be that as it may, we could still do stuff and grow this nation technologically, only with the right goals and aspirations. Good enough some Defence start-ups like Proforce are up to the task. We only need to lend them credible support.
