The first batch of NSCDC Armed Squad trained by thd Nigerian Army’s 14 Brigade, Ohafia passed out on 30th November, 2012 with 150 graduands. The passing out ceremony attracted dignitaries from all walks of life and there was a live display by the graduating students on stripping and assembling of weapons blindfolded and timed.

Speaking at the passing out ceremony,the Commander,14 Brigade, represented by Col. J.Y. Nimyel disclosed that the
leadership of the NSCDC had requested
for the training in view of the growing
sophistication of criminals in the country as well as the security challenges facing
the nation.

He further stated that the one month
intensive training exposed the graduating students to weapon handling and maintenance of personal weapons such as AK47, FN-FAL, G3 rifles and pistols and that they were equally taken to Iguruta Shooting range located near Port Harcourt, Rivers State where they carried out live firing.

and sense of duty throughout the period of their training urged them to keep faith with the lessons learnt during the training

The Governor of Abia State Chief Dr. T.A.Orji, represented by Comdt. Nathaniel
Ubong charged the beneficiaries on the
need to ensure proper use of their
weapons in the course of their duty. The
Governor promised to continue his generosity to the NSCDC and other security agencies.

In his closing remarks, the new Commandant of NSCDC Abia State Command, Comdt. Ben Dikuro commended the Nigerian Army for training personnel of NSCDC and charged the graduating students to use the skills acquired to curtail the security challenges threatening the corporate
existence of the country.

He further explained that the training of personnel of the NSCDC in weapon handling was within the scope of the appropriate laws establishing the agency and promised the public that his personnel will make positive use of the training towards actualising the objectives of the Federal Government.
