NIGERIANS SLUGGING IT OUT ON TWITTER OVER BEEGEAGLE’S BLOG CONTENT…DR ABATI, DR EZEKWESILI, #BRINGBACKOURGIRLS AND NAIJA CYBERHACTIVISTS SPARRING..

There is a bit of a TWITTER WAR going on this morning between #BRINGBACKOURGIRLS, former minister Dr OBY EZEKWESILI, Special Adviser(Media) to the President Dr REUBEN ABATI, celebrity blogger Japhet Omojuwa and Naija CYBERHACTIVISTS.

It purportedly has to do with a photo which the antagonists allege was used by Dr Abati to convey an unrelated message. Don’t know how far that is true.

These appear to be the controversial photos and this old thread is trending like mad, notching up over 500 clicks between 0800hrs and 0900hrs today.

Na wa o. Naija is a tough country to serve o.

How come Oga ABATI himself is a Beegeagle’s Blogger and we cannot lend us a helping hand with facilitation so we can tell the neglected side of the real Nigerian story, better? God help Beegeagle’s Blog o.

As for activists and hactivists alike, did I not tell you lately that I had begun to sense that some of them are trying to anchor here and thereby get heard by the powers that be, knowing the A-List readership which this blog enjoys? Well, now you know. ‘Em rabble rousers are upon us. We shall stay the course and steer clear of their free-for-all, scandal-munching essence 🙂

  12. Oje says:

Gentlemen, its high time. I Am proposing we organize at least 500 people to sign a petition calling for the immediate deportation of thevthree CNN correspondedts in Nigeria led largely by Vladimir Duyhier and Aisha Sesay. The world already knowd that the Nigerian government response in the aftermath of thevattackbwas lackluster at best but its been a month and thede guys want yo make their careers by taking advantage of this event to sensentionize yhe atmosphere with hundreds of now monotonous interviews with yhe parents of these girls which i must add puts them at risk for targeted assasination. They act likey care about these people, if they do they will not take advantage of the hhparents pain and anguish by these endless and now senseless interviews. Whats worse, they have even made a documentary on it.

Its no coincidence the lowest ranking CNN correspondents are the ones spewing out these hyperbolic negative stories. It is a shame that in a bid to elevate their career status it is fellow Africans journalist that are championing these cheap smeer campaigne. Gentlemen they spend more time talking about these girls than they do condeming Boko Haram and urging World leaders to intervene. They have glorified Boko Haram and made him a celebrity overnight. Comrades, i dare say these biased and unprofessional journalism now posses a security threat to the exodtructural entity of our beloved Nation.

Let us sign this petition and present it to the President.

    • Deway says:

Oga Oje, no surprises there. It has always been the norm for upcoming western journalists to glorify activities of terrorists and under-report the good attributes of African countries. That is how the western run media houses see success and good reporting. Do not for one minute think he loves Nigeria, he’s doing his best for a promotion and cant wait for a posting to some other country. On the other hand, na we put ourself for this kain condition, allowing a ragtag force to grow and have a global reputation, for better or for worse.

    • peccavi says:

SO Oje, once you have deported the CNN correspondents what next?
The things they were talking about go away?
Or you just change the headline to ‘Nigeria muzzles press to hide its incompetence’
And then we have the pissed off deported journalists who know they no longer need to hold their tongues going round and doing interviews about how terrible Nigeria is.
I have watched their items. They are sensationalist but nothing they are saying is untrue or not bound in reality.
Did CNN stop us from getting a professional media ops team?
Have you watched Syrian State TV? Or even Russia Today? Its propaganda 24/7 put done professionally and watchably.

RT that is so anti Ukraine is still reporting in Ukraine. Why?
You do not fight the media, you use them. The are human. They are all under pressure to file reports, get exclusives, get access.
      So you give them reports.
Personally I would have a platoon solely dedicated to media ops, beautifully kitted out, well spoken etc. They would take these reporters all over the place.
Why is Abati in a mess on Twitter? Do you think Obama does his own Twitter? He has some young person doing it for him.
Why do you get inarticulate old men who are used to dealing with subservient Nigerian journalists. Get a team from the diaspora, one with Uk accent, one with American accent, French speaker and Arabic speaker. People who can speak nonsensical grammer for 2 minutes.

As a comparison look at Abati/ Okupes interviews and look at NOI.
It is a brutal comparison in media handling. Even when being pressured she stays on message, she also wastes the reporters time by speaking about things (positive things) that the reporter didn’t ask. In most cases an interview wont be longer than 5 minutes.
Constant deflection but not with bluster but with a clear message, when pressed she deflects with ‘I’m the finance minister’
In essence she did not answer a single difficult question directly, she did not lie, or obfuscate or bluster or make accusations.
She kept harping on about girls, girls education etc etc. Good fluffy positive messages.
      It is a good effort
She has had proper media training and more to the point paid attention.

Now look at Okupe, the guy is jumping from one point to another, he does not sound like a subject matter expert nor does he sound confident or definitive, yet within his piece he is giving out alot of useful info and messaging. The body language is wrong, the little girl is in the dominant position and her questioning is rapid and aggressive. In this case you break her down by slowing her down and imposing your will on the interview, let it go at your pace and as in the case of NOI bring it back to your message that you want to get across. What was his central message? ‘We will get back these girls?’ ‘we have opened a media centre’ ‘ the military is on the job?’. NOI had a central message,Girls and girls education, everything linked back to that. In this case he was jumping from topic to topic.
That girl na small girl, from her body language you could tell she was irritated, most likely been kept waiting, so you can either charm her or go on the attack and fluster her.
either which way, she won that encounter and she shouldn’t have.

Propaganda like all other forms of war is a well planned and executed operation, just getting big bellied men to be turned turned by all these small children is not anyones fault but their own

      • doziex says:

        Simply brilliant !!!

What a chasm between nigeria’s potential and our reality.

If only we learnt to put our best foot forward.

    • rugged7 says:

Oga Oje, I share your pain.
But i don’t think that is the best way to go.
I always believe in the veracity of superior arguments.
Therefore, the Nigerian government must develop an articulate media response team consisting of young and gifted orators backed by a media war room to respond to trending issues.
This counters disinformation and negative information at source.
I am not impressed at all by the FG’s media team. They are often tripping each other up.
They are like a bunch of keystone cops…

    • toondey says:

Well, CNN as about six of their journalist in Nigeria one of them is of ,Nigerian original can’t remember her name now, her reportage is just as bad, deporting them is not the solution what have we done to counter their reportage. What needs to be done is not rocket science it is virtually known to us here.

  13. ifiok umoeka says:

A friend of mine ones said that Goodlucks problem is that all those who tend to represent him are all Badluck! Even Abacha’s PR squad did a better job. Following Tiger Woods blog doesn’t make me a golf pro, so following Oga BeegZ wouldn’t make u a pro on 9ja defsec space…hence ur brutalization on the STREAM! Common sense would have told u to call up for help to prep b4 heading out to the STREAM! See as u the allow ignoramous to the floor u! Haba! With this kind of performance, all the good luck go run out’o! SEEK HELP

  14. jimmy says:

    oga Deway
you do talk am true, “nah we put ourselves for this position wetin deportation go do for us she if we deport them we go find the girls tomorrow morning? that means to say them go dey ship the weapons and hardware every hour on the hour, them no be our problem right now make them find the girls safe and sound, make them get rid of the cancer the n we fit deport anyone wey we want deport..
I just dey amused about the twitter war me i no dey even go twitter o! lol !

  15. So far i think Doyin Okukpe has been the best. I watched his interview with Aisha…and i was impressed with how he was able to tame her.

  16. ifiok umoeka says:

Didn’t get the opportunity and I don’t know if one can access such videos

  17. ifiok umoeka says:

I notice that Obama’s media rep is some young sharp looking tech saavy dude who seem to know his business! The have a media team (always have and emphasis on TEAM) and they try to say the same thing as they are properly led! Men, until the girls, BH’s best actions have been their media campaign. I still find it confusing that Mr President had to wait that long to even mention the Chibok while he was prompt to make a statement (and even visited) about the Nyaya bombing, even though both incidents were separated by minutes! Mr President, YOUR MEDIA TEAM IS FAILING YOU

  18. Colonel says:

Oga beeg, the politicians can say all they want. This blog has made its name and it is sad that DR Abati reads the blog yet doesnt seem to do much. We must remain focused in what we do. The issue of the cnn correspondents is dicey. The only way to fight back is to find competent hands to handle our image both politically and militarilly. It is unfortunate that our local media that is suppose to help create this image is actually denting it with their headlines, pictures and reporting which is always exaggerated. Once again, kudos to you oga beeg and all the active members of this blog. Keep up the good work!

  19. G8T Nigeria says:

Gen Beeg, u can see that many around the world get tips from this blog. I believe the people here are classified in categories.

Category 1- peoples in high places seeking information to advice their bosses. (hiding their sources).

Category 2- People in the global defsec circles, monitoring security situations and general sentiments.

Category 3- People in Defsec especially in Nigeria who occupy the lower cadre but will make you shine when they occupy strong offices.

Category 4 – People in the open world interested in security matters.

Either way its your choice. You posited that you may leave after some time, I presume you have something else challenging your time but I tell you, what I see ahead, you may abandon other engagments for this blog and be hunted internationally for security related procurements. Patience is the key, knowledge is the weapon, Greatness is the result. welldone.

  23. beegeagle says:

    Yeah, BH follow us too.

I have always wondered why anytime that we remind the world about how much the urban centres of northern Nigeria have been pacified, BH seem to want to denote a device in one or two of those places.

My goodness, our guys are going through hell with a high level of courage, only if they could tell the world their stories.

  25. jimmy says:

I am not worried what boko haram is doing or not doing . I am more concerned as to what the f.g. is not doing. These are very telling picture it seems to me the baseball cap guys are special forces. And ALAS one person in the entire 120,000 ARMY NOW KNOWS HOW TO USE A BOMB DETECTOR since we have to wait for oyinbo to tell us we do not know how to put battery in bomb detector .( P.S. I had an uncle who defused bombs as far as the civil war).
As cold blooded as this may sound and oh yes the bh sub human beings probably read this blog the twin bombings in jos, and kano have one thing in common they are soft TARGETS.
I keep repeating myself the role of the social media in this war, who gets killed the most involving soft targets are women and children. The army and by extension has to be aware of that and using Extreme SENSITIVITY towards the FAMILIES has to use this towards galvanizing the country against these sub species
There is a line in a recent Hollywood movie that just came out called The hunger games part 2 it goes like this ” LET US REMEMBER WHO THE REAL ENEMY IS”

  26. beegeagle says:

The subject-matter of this thread has gone viral o. Already, the controversial page has been viewed by thousands of people

    http://www.naijavibe.net/bringbackourgirls-reuben-abati-tweeted-a-fake-pic-of-nigerian-troops-in-action/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=bringbackourgirls-reuben-abati-tweeted-a-fake-pic-of-nigerian-troops-in-action

As I write, we are closing in on a new record for page views in one day. The current record of over 10,000 hits was set in January 2013 when our troops were heading out to Mali. A new record seems inevitable today.

  27. rugged7 says:

See additional operational images of Nigeria army on the facebook page of national orientation agency. Them try 4 the pix sha. It seems like a significant PR campaign to counter the western media narrative about the army not engaging boko haram. Quite revealing…However i still see the ubiquitous hilux vans being stuck in the mud.

  28. ifiok umoeka says:

After all has been said and done, thank u Dr 4 the traffic, may this serve as a lesson (…something tells me that’s wishful thinking). @ Oga Rugged7, nothing in that write up suggest Israeli wide mouth. The Israeli is a private concern trying to cover his track, but we all know how that deal transpired. Good to get a figure per bird, hope we get the no. In proper societies, this crisis would serve as occasion to setup inquiries as to why we have unusable assets! If the senetor can stop media dancing and just do their jobs…

  29. ifiok umoeka says:

The letdown in those pics are the hilux ‘in desert camo’! As an aside, if we had been doing this, we would have been better off

oga fej these are beautiful pics even with the blown tire. i have worked in construction and have driven off road before you get used to it you can blow a tire a day going over sharp stones or ruts in the road.
My question is this why didn’t the army release such pictures earlier on/This is part of what I have shouted myself hoarse about you tube is SOCIAL MEDIA , FACEBOOK IS SOCIAL MEDIA in less than a day over 24,000 Nigerians will see these short video clips and will feel encouraged that there military is doing something, is on the ground.
I had to ask myself am i xenophobic for wanting to see my fellow NIGERIANS LIVE ON TV from Chibok?
I am thankful IT APPEARS THAT SOMEONE IS READING THIS BLOG AND HAS WOKEN UP.

Most of the Nigerian politicians are unpatriotic vultures and sycophants with running mouths. Instead of joining the President in solidarity with Nigerians to finding a solution to terrorism they are busy planting seeds of discord and calling the President all sort of names.

  43. drag_on says:

    Oga doziex
Exactly, i have always campaigned for more helicopters, that was how the British dealt with the IRA. and insurgents in Basra( the did not have much casualties). Constant patrols and insertion of reconnaissance teams into sambisa. Turn the forest into a prison by cutting it into quadrants.Cut off bokoharam’s base from the suicide bombers (command and control structure) or at least make it logistically impossible for them to engage in suicide bombings then identify their location. We have to put them under pressure and constantly looking behind. That needs at least 50 helics, i do understand that it means we have to train pilots, but start NOW.
P.S. The Jos bombing may be as a result of the loss of those mortars? during the ambush recently.
On a happier note. Oga beeg, more bountiful years to you. Cheers.
